Git is an open-source version control system and a command-line tool, it is used by programmers, developers, and designers to store projects and keep track of changes to their files. github.com is the website where developers can store their projects. Some basic git command is mentioned below:<\/p>\n\n

git clone \/path\/to\/repository<\/blockquote>\nThis command is used to clone the application in local repository. Create a working copy of a\nlocal repository.\n
git init<\/blockquote>\nCreate a new local repository.\n
git add<\/blockquote>\nThis command used to Add all the files to staging.\n
git commit -m “Commit message”<\/blockquote>\nCommit changes to head (but not yet to the remote repository).\n
git config –global user.name “jyoti” \/ git config –global user.email \u201cjyotisingh@carmatec.in\u201d<\/blockquote>\nConfigure the user name and email address to be used with your commits.\n
git remote -v<\/blockquote>\nList all the currently configured remote repositories\n
git push origin <\/branchname><\/blockquote>\nSend the committed changes to the branch of your remote repository.\n
git status<\/blockquote>\nList the files you have changed and those you still need to add or commit.\n
git remote add origin <\/server><\/blockquote>\nIf you have not connected to your local repository to a remote server, add the server to be able to push the code.\n
git remote -v<\/blockquote>\nList all currently configured remote repositories.\n
git checkout <\/branchname><\/blockquote>\nSwitch from one branch to another.\n
git checkout -b <\/branchname><\/blockquote>\nCreate a new branch and switch to it.\n
git branch<\/blockquote>\nList all the branches in your repository, and also tell you on which branch you are currently in.\n
git branch -d <\/branchname><\/blockquote>\nDelete the feature branch.\n
git push –all origin<\/blockquote>\nPush all branches to your remote repository.\n
git pull<\/blockquote>\nFetch and merge changes on the remote server to your working directory.\n
git merge <\/branchname><\/blockquote>\nTo merge a different branch into your active branch.\n
git diff<\/blockquote>\nPreview changes in all the files whatever you have done.\n
git diff –base <\/filename><\/blockquote>\nPreview changes for a specific file done by you.\n
git add <\/filename><\/blockquote>\nAfter you have manually resolved any conflicts, you can mark the changed file then pushed.\n
git log<\/blockquote>\nDisplay all the commits with commitId that is pushed to the remote server, and CommitId will be unique for every commit.\n
git checkout — <\/filename><\/blockquote>\nWith this command, we can undo local changes for that specific file.\n
git stash<\/blockquote>\nSuppose you want to switch to another branch but you don\u2019t want to commit what you have been working on yet, then you can stash the changes using above command.\n
git stash apply<\/blockquote>\nYou can reapply the changes to any branch that you have stashed by using the above command.\n
git stash clear<\/blockquote>\nYou can clear the stash using the above command.\n
git diff > patch_name.patch<\/blockquote>\nThis command used to create a patch with diff output (all the changes that you have done for all the files)\n
git diff patch_name.patch<\/file><\/blockquote>\nCreate a patch for a specific file.\n
git apply patch_name.patch<\/blockquote>\nThis command used to apply the patch file changes in your current branch.\n
git cherry-pick <\/commit-hash><\/blockquote>\nCherry picking is used to choose a commit from one branch and apply it onto another.\n
git reset –soft HEAD~1<\/blockquote>\nUndo the last commit.\n
git reset –soft <\/commitid><\/blockquote>\nUndo any previous commit.\n
git clean<\/blockquote>\nRemove untracked files from the working branch.\n
git clean -f -d<\/blockquote>\nThis command used to remove directories, untracked files from the working branch.\n
